Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?

I like almost everything about the FJ.
What I dont like is that I have no control over who buys one.
I have certain standards I would like to see put in place.
During the purchase or lease of the FJ I would like to see future owners subject to testing.
A urine test , an IQ test , a background check...
A meeting of all FJ owners decide if youre up to par...

And there was only one gripe about mirrors. There was also a gripe about the location of a mirror switch which is actually an electrical device. Switches are not mirrors. Mirrors are not switches.
And, (if I may butt in) you can't just leave it if more than one person in the family drives it; it is one of the few reasons I didn't just get a stock vehicle: my wife is 5- zero, nada, and I'm six2, so I would have to adjust the mirrors all the time (that is, if I let her drive it )

I love everything about it other than the cheesy armrest. I can't wait to figure out something better. Maybe a console at the right height?
would love to see a larger picture of your "twins"

Wooooody: Thinketh before thou speaketh. I am not the only one driving this vehicle. The other drivers height & weight varies. Therfore, the mirrors need to be adjusted before a different driver gets behind the wheel. This is basic drivers ed 101. The 3 Grrrrs!!! stays for lousy switch location.
Yeah? Thinketh before you send email. You want to PM me, PM me. Your email went to the entire TLCA Board of Directors. You look like quite a jerk.

Anyway -- I guess that switch location / mirror adjusting must be quite a concern.

Where would you prefer the switch to be located? on the arm rest?

Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?

I'm happier with my FJ than any other 4 wheeled vehicle I've owned, and there have been quite a few. Especially love some of the innovative design and that it doesn't have carpet and certain creature comforts. I know some of this isn't feasible, but just me personally dreaming, I'd be even happier if:

It was 2 feet longer and had 4 real doors (8" more btwn seats, 16" longer back bay).
It had solid metal old school outside mirrors ILO that Star Trek shyte.
Windshield was 3" taller with stronger glass.
A huge Sunroof or removable roof panel was a Toyota option.....or
Even better, removable roof and side panels over a rollcage was offered.
Toyota offered multiple Tire and Wheel options.
Toyota offered multiple Bumper/ Winch/ Slider options.
Toyota offered a V8 option.
All the windows opened and the back door was a tailgate.
The Headliner was black rubber or plastic.
There was an option for Sand color Durabak coating instead of paint.
The oft rumored, seldom photographed, and apparently mythical Toyota Air Dam magically appears before us, the whole FJ Kingdom rejoices, and we all live happily ever after.

The gas tank! 16 gallons is a joke, I hate filling up twice a week. I only get around 250 miles a tank.
The tank is 19 gallons (on the TRD, I assume on all models). But I agree, lack of range is my biggest complaint. I'm getting 14 mpg, meaning I stop to fill up, with a little gas in reserve, about every 220 miles (at least twice a week). This things needs a 25 to 30 gallon tank! Make it large enough so I can travel 300 miles without worry, and I'd be very happy!

Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?

I love almost everything about it...but I would love to see a windshield that isn't effected by every pebble on the road that gets kicked up into it (or more impervious to dings) and a paint job that is equally as tough. I plan on owning my FJ for years to come...the rest of the vehicles in my stable will rotate....but my FJ will be my project rig and has earned a permanent place in my gargage.....but I'm sure that I'll go through many windshield replacements and probably a repaint at some time.
