Paint chips way too easily, potential for windshield damage, lack of lumbar support or much seat adjustably and it would be nice if, when you lay the seats down, the cargo area is flat from front to rear.
What's with all the complaints concerning "creature comforts" - i.e., no heated adjustable seats, apholstery catching lint, etc. PLEASE!!! This is a UTILITY vehicle made for fun city and off-road driving. If you wanted all the posh s***, you should have bought an Escalade or MDX. This is a TRUCK!!! A damn fine one at that. I love it!!! No complaints. Also, it is a TOYOTA!
I'm with KAM.... If you didn't notice the Windshield, visibility, seat adjustments, ect, when you test drove one......sorry. How the heck do think they were able to sell so many...$$$...? All the extras add up quick.
I am still waiting to see an FJ lowered sitt'in on 20's. Then I'll have seen it all.
I honestly like everything about it. Once you drive one, it's hard to go home without it--it's a sick obsession!
There isn't anything that I can point to and say "this needs improvement," (so far) Toyota seems to have done pretty well with the FJ.
Even the rear visibility is fine for me--I'm 6' and can clearly see out the back and use the mirrors properly, so I'd imagine that being 6'5" you'll have no problem either.
My wife on the other hand is only 5' 5" and she is intimidated by the FJ in reverse (although, she has a hard time in reverse to begin with--our Jeep Cherokee has had the rear window / door replaced a time or two).

Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?
I agree that this would have been nice... my Tacoma had this, why not the FJ?:
6. Manual transmission should be 2WD with option to put it into 4WD, (For better overall gas mileage.)
Other than bumping my head on the latch to get in the back seat (that has minimal leg room), no major complaints thus far.
And I agree that those who have been whining about lack of posh extras are just... whining. I mean, you knew when you test drove the thing that those were not options. This is a real truck. If you want luxury, buy a Touareg. or a Cayenne. You get what you pay for.
Keep em comin guys, this has been really informative. I am a little worried about the issues with the paint chipping and weak windshield but other than that.
Right now I drive a 97 chevy cheyenne short bed short cab with a V6, so there is really now way the FJ will not be a huge improvement over that. I also agree that the FJ is a utility truck, not some blinged out G-ride from the latest rap video. I want a truck that looks good dirty!!
I also totally agree about the lame tires that come stock, I am seriously considering ordering mine with the TRD wheel/tire option just to get those BFG AT's to tide me over until a lift with new shoes.
The Posh crap aside. My only issues with the FJ is that after a 3" lift (and I've ripped my running boards off) you need some sort of step side entry. My wife is 5' 3". I chose the Trail Grear Rock Slider. Works great.
yeah i love my FJ, but i have to say there are some areas that could be improved. i agree and say i wish the fender flares had a backing for the mud, cleaning that thing sucks. also i think it would have been really cool if they made the back window roll down like on the 4runner. other than that it is a great vehicle and i absolutly love it.
oh yeah, it would be nice to have some heated seats.....lol

I'm one of those who gripe about the lack of creature comforts, (sorry, it's 2000 and fricken 7, can a brother get a little more leather and a little more electronic gadgetry!!) but despite some spartan aspects of the interior, I have to say I am emotionally attached to my FJ in ways I thought were only reserved for vintage corvettes, jags, & ferarri's! The pro's far outway the cons, and as this forumn leads by example... you can always mod.
For those of you with gas pump issues, here's a tip: Wedge your gas cap into the handle of the pump. It will hold just fine and even release automatically when the tank is full.
