Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?

Where do I start?

1) Poor interior lighting
2) Interior insulation is almost non-existant.
3) No locking gas cap
4) No wheel locks
5) When the arm rest is down its difficult to unbuckle your seatbelt
6) No leather seats/steering wheel
7) Rear visibility sucks nuts
8) No integrated center counsel/arm rest
9) Lack of passenger side arm rest
10) Shifter on the automatic tranny looks like a dildo
11) Rear seats don't fold down flat unless you take off all 3 head rests
12) With the rear head rests up it blocks your view/blind spots while backing up
13) Exhaust drones when you get on the gas.
14) You have to have the head rest up if you sit in the back or else it digs into your shoulder blades

Thats about it for now.

The funny thing is that despite all of its flaws I have a HUGE smile on my face every time I see my car parked in the drive way. I love it!

Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?

the only thing that bugs me is the back seat side windows do not popped open or go down...my '91 and '95 xtra cab pickup had the pop out windows...why toyota why? i have three kids who need the frash air, please someone make a kit or something

the good is that i am 6'6" 265 and the fj provides so much headroom and i have to pull the seat up to depress the clutch...so basically i am loving the room of this ride. i also have three children all in car seats and we all fit including all our gear...it is the best ride we have ever had. i even supercharged it and now it is crazy fun when i dont have the wife or kids with me...hehe

Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?

how is it that many of the issues having been listed in this forum are non-issues in other Toyota vehicles? many of the items I miss from My 05 Tundra would make my FJ SO much more agreeable...
Fog Lamps
Heated side Mirror s( ones that dont stick out to ridiculous width) with goofy lights on back
Funtional sun Visors
A Real Sized Gas Tank
A Real Motor that yes got a little less mileage, but at least could justify it by POWER!!
Proper Interior lighting - map lights

Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?

If I can manage to keep it through the end of year two I'm getting it painted flat black with maybe some tan and blue...it should have at least two a/c outlets like my XJ had...it really should have provisions for at least four 6.5" speakers like my XJ; the cargo area should be flat and sleep a 6'4" person comfortably like---idunno---the XJ...let's see, perhaps a person could open the rear door from the inside, that would be cool and I think the Jeep had a handle installed in the cargo area on the rear hatch for that purpose..I'm pretty sure my S-10 Blazer had a handle (and a lock too) on the tailgate...What else? I don't see why the U.S. can't give us a vehicle in this segment that will perform reliably like the FJ, otherwise I don't see why Japan expects us to pay $30K for a vehicle that doesn't have the basic amenities that any of my Father's station wagons from the 60's and 70's had (like being able to let down the back glass) not to mention (again) the lack of modern basics like 2 power outlets...jezzus. I feel like I'm paying top dollar for a vehicle that has everything but it doesn't; I'm left (like the rest of you) to figure out how I can get some of the basic stuff retrofit on this thing...and again, I wonder who's joke it was to make a vehicle appear black until you put it direct sunlight...bleck is more like it.

Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?

The reason that Toyota has not addressed any/some of the issues mentioned here is self evident and proven by the posts themselves. We continue to buy them anyhow. Ron

PS: Personally, I don't really what anything added ot taken away, but that's just me.. Cheers

Don't get me wrong, I was willing to pay a little more for a little less since reliability is (hopefully) part of the deal I'm getting. What is self evident or proven by these posts; that Toyota should include this stuff in an upcoming FJ model?

Re: FJ OWNERS! What dont you like about your FJ?

Coming to FJC from an '05 Taco, I miss the map lights and the console with a lid on it. Also, since I've got two yellow (mostly white!) labs that shed, I wish the seats were brown instead of black!

Minor inconveniences that I can live with.

Never thought about it like that!

Now that I've really LOOKED at it, the handle kinda looks like the head of one of those wand vibrators that you see here and there, but it's really not shaped properly to look like a dildo -- at least not any dildos I've seen.

Anyway, gotta mention this "observation" to my GF right away!!!
