1)Paint seems easily scratched compared to cheaper vehicles I've owned.
2)Toyota could have squeezed out a few more miles per gallon.
3)Windsheild looks sandblasted @ 36000 miles.
4)Rear seat headrest design = WTF?
***So much fun and off-road capability totally makes up for all of the quirks!
I knew I couldn't be the only person having trouble pumping gas! Other than that. passenger seat has no arm rest, also none in the back, which passengers have complained about. Visibility is lacking, but you get used to it very fast. and if you know how to use your mirrors your fine. and as for the windshield, it's nearly a 90 degree angle, so pretty much bugs get destroyed all over it. And that it's 4x4 all the time. At least mine in MT
after purchasing the vehicle w/ out even test driving it & now having her one week (700+km) i have a few things that take some getting used to.
im sure this has all been covered since there isn't much not to like but here's my 2cents...
1.blind spots!
coming out of a convertible sports car I must say there are some massive blind spots that i've had to get used to. i'm F'n paranoid of taking out some motorcycle or smartcar.
2.the passenger seatbelt warning...however thanks to this wonderfull forum i will be correcting the problem tomorrow (since the dealership couldn't do it)
3.rear windows don't go down (didn't realize this until i got her...not that it would have changed anything)
4. would really love it if the rear window went down too...although not something i will do often i have taken some easy drives with it propped open.
...thats about it. this is my first truck & i'm sure as i get more expirience on the trail i'll notice some other things but right now i'm still in the honeymoon phase & lovin' my fj!
- lack of visibility
- poor quality windshield
- crappy wipers and lack of availability of good ones
- bumper design front and rear
- dam spare hanging off rear door
- lack of sound deadening insulation throughout vehicle
- that dam rubber floor mat, carpet should have been an option
Overall I have enjoyed the last year with my FJ, but I really miss my V8 Tundra

The only thing I don't like 200 miles in is the chirp I keep hearing from the engine. I am not sure if it is a loose belt or what. It just bugs me. A vehicle that costs this much shouldn't sound like an 86 Hyundai Excel, especially not when it's brand new.

I really cant complain. You know what you're buying . Its a 4x4 , its boxy, gas is going to suck , front windows are going to crack/ pit.. I spent about a 6months on this forum before I brought I knew what I was getting. Ok my gripe...filling up can be annoying the pump always shuts off unless I find that sweet spot or angle and pump slow.
