hi all, i was just curious about this deal. Dealer is offering me the toyota rock rails installed and everything for $400, should i jump on this ? or can i get some better aftermarket ones for the same price and put them on myself ?
Just wanted some of you all's input since i am pretty new to the FJ ( got it 1 week ago) thanks for any advice or input
Rails are easy to install (bolt on, don't even need to raise the FJ) and you should be able to get a better pair for that. I believe the Trail Gear ones are still $299 and there are other options as well. From what I've read around here I'd go aftermarket but that's me.

Re: Is this a good deal ?
You could do better with your 400 bucks, IMO. But maybe you can wear them down and they'll include the rails with your deal anyway. Never know. Some sales manager's don't like 400 bucks to come between them and a sale. Of course, it all depends!
Hey I'm looking for rails with integrated side steps (i know, i know, but I am a shorter guy 5' 8' so a step would be nice) any links you all can post?

IMO I think the $400.00 is pretty steep. I also don't like the stock rock rails as they really don't assist with entering and exiting the vehicle. I installed the trail gear on my FJ and have wheeled with them many times they are fantastic and again IMO the best one's on the market for me. They are also great for use when enetring and exiting the vehicle. I paid $299.00 shipped directly to my local powder coating guy who charged me $75.00 for the powder coating I also purchased heavy duty grip tape and installed a couple of strips on each of the sliderzzz so well you don't slide!!!!!! the install took me about twenty minutes. Hope this helps

Check the price from Toyota Parts - you can at least save the installation labor by installing them yourself - might take an hour (includes getting tools out and putting them back).

Thanks for the tip on the Trail Gear sliders they are just what I was looking for. A reasonable price for sliders with an integrated step. It is absurd what some of the other manufacturers are asking for similar.
