I just test drove the automatic fj and love it. The dealer didnt advise of any 4x4 options if i wanted to order a automatic in 2wheel or 4 wheel drive model? Are all Automatics not 4 wheels drive? They said you just order package b or c? but they are both 4x4 trucks?
The automatic comes in 2 wheel drive only and part time 4 wheel drive versions - the MT is full time 4WD. The packages include things like the stereo, number of speakers, arm rest, etc. If you see options like a locking rear diff and atrac then you're looking at the 4wd model.
Hope that helps.

maybe its just canada, but you cant buy a automatic without rear diff lock or without atrac. There are onlty 2 ways to buy a automatic package b or c, both have rear diff lock and atrac, package c comes with the side curtain airbags and wheel mounted stereo controls, and matching color door inserts.
It sounds like you will have select one of those options for the 4X4. If not you're just getting 2 wheel drive.

Am I missing something on the Canada Toyota site. It's true that you can only get 4x4 models in Canada but I can price a manual or automatic version without the B or C packages. There is no ATRAC and Rear locker with the automatic base model. You have to upgrade to the 'B" package to get them but you can get an automatic without them.
mfg suggested pricing - automatic:
(A) $30990.00
B $34770.00
C $37410.00
mfg suggest price - standard:
(A) $29990.00
B $33770.00
C) $ 36315.00

fyi here in nc mine came this way, side curtain airbags, stock radio single cd, auto rr locker, upgraded bbs wheel pkg with dueler ht tires, parking sensor, rubber floor mats front and rear, other than that the other normal stuff, I upgraded it with atrac ordered online so it now has both. also has oem roof rack. hope this helps
oh yeah our local dealer has half his lot filled now with fjc any assorments
In canada there isn't a 2wd FJ. If you buy the auto, its going to be a 4 wheeler. All the 4wd goodies come stock on the "A" package MT. Thats why i bought it.

Sweet. I've only ever seen one stock MT in Canada (Exeter). That is what I test drove after trying two automatics -- it convinced me to get a MT.
Just to get the all the airbags though I had to buy the "C" package however (us old folks bruise easier ;-) ). I did end up with a ton of options I didn't really want. Oh well my 80 year old mom is able to get in with the running boards.

that because the MT gets hit with a $1000.00 gas buzzler tax.
The automatic, with its part-time 4 wheel drive just managed to avoid the tax. Reason why the wife just bought a AT on Thrusday.
PS: the base model is available with the MT but it's difficult to find
