permanent storage for rear headrests?

I just bought mine yesterday and have already removed the rear headrests and put them in storage. Removing them everytime I needed to lay down the backseats just seemed like an avoidable step since I'll rarely have anyone riding in the backseat. Anyone else have them collecting dust?

Re: permanent storage for rear headrests?

It seems strange to me that I have never considered this. I have taken them off and put them back on at least 20 or 30 times and I cant think of any reason to keep them in the truck.
Thanks for pointing out the obivious...

Re: permanent storage for rear headrests?

Mine have been in the basement since the day I bought the FJ. I always have the back seats down.

Ditto.

Chances are, if I was going to have rear seat passengers for any length of time, I would know well in advance and could retrieve them from storage. For something more spontaneous, like a couple of co-workers going to lunch, I'm sure they could survive a mile or two sans headrests.

Re: permanent storage for rear headrests?

They've been up in the attic since the day I bought my FJ. (Plus, I can't find anyone tiny enough to appreciate the back seats anyway, which have also been permanently removed.)

Re: permanent storage for rear headrests?

My step mom fit nicely in the back today, so I can't go as far as removing the rear seats.

Same with me. With the seats up there is hardly any room in the back storage.

Ditto. Pulled'em out, and boxed'em up. Kind of a bad design IMO, but hey, the got most of it right.<G>

Isn't it some kind of whiplash protection or something other than just a place to rest your head?

Yes, but only if someone is sitting in those seets. I agree that it is bad design.
