Rear 110v outlet question

Is it possible to add that rear outlet option and accompanying dash button without too much trouble, or am I better off just buying an inverter that plugs in the cigarette lighter?

Thanks.

Re: Rear 110v outlet question

It is very costly to add the factory set-up. There are other inverters available that wire into the car and put out more wattage thatn the cigarette lighter versions

Re: Rear 110v outlet question

Thanks for the info! I'm not sure I need a lot of power. I'll just be using it to power a AA battery recharger that takes 12v and my cellphone as well.

Re: Rear 110v outlet question

If it's just a battery recharger unit and your cell phone, you will be fine with one that plugs into your cigarette one, if you were going to use a LAPTOP on a trip or something, and wanted to keep a charge, you would have to wire it like Rover said. I charged a huge spot-light pretty fast with the cigarette one, as well as my cell phone...works fine.

Ther may be a better alternatve-solar matts are available at any good outdoor store, and are made for the purpose you stated above. They are cheaper and don't take any space, and there is zero install issues. Hope it helps-Timbo2

Re: Rear 110v outlet question

My laptop worked just fine off the cig. lighter via an inverter on a 3 day road-trip...

Re: Rear 110v outlet question

I bought a cheap inverter at Costco for about $20. I don't use it very much anymore because the FJ has a built in inverter. For your purposes you would be better off spending a few bucks to have a couple of power outlets installed and use the inverter.

I also had 2 power outlets added for a cost of around $150. One in front in the storage bin and one in back by the 110v setup.

Now I can power just about everything.
