We don't have to worry anymore!

I bought my FJ about a month ago. We've taken it out a few times into the desert to do our best to get it good and dirty. I did worry a bit about scratching the paint. Well, my wife pulled the van out of the garage two days ago and promptly dragged her rear view mirror along the back quarter panel leaving a scratch about 18 inches long. The FJ has now been officially broken in. We are ready for anything!

Wow. You have an amazing outlook on life.

My reaction would have been this:

Man, I can see being okay with this situation if the word 'van' was replaced by Porsche, Rock Buggy, Vintage Cruiser, 47 foot motor yacht, or something similar.

Re: We don't have to worry anymore!

My wife opened the drivers door (of the FJ) into the Pass RV mirror of her Jeep Lib. and left a bit of a dent just above teh drivers door handle. She said nothing to me, and I'm pretending that I don't notice. I will eventually fix it with a paintless dent puller kit. fortuantely the paint wasn't damaged. I would rather keep the peace. Maybe that is why she has been alot more frisky. Hummmmmm, not a bad price to pay huh?

I like the way you think. Yeah, the FJ was scratched, but I'll get a lot of mileage off this. I'll purchase a few things to enhance the FJ and if she tries to question my purchases, I'll get a little tear in my eye and remind her how hurt I was when she scratched the car. I figure I can milk this one for a while!

That's just like getting a new surfboard, you really don't have as much fun on it until after the first ding. After that it's much better..

Re: We don't have to worry anymore!

Last weekend I mashed in the passenger-side bumper endcap. Didn't bother me a bit. However, if I did this to any of my other vehicles I would have been pissed! Can't figure out why this is.

I even told my wife that it looks "cool" and I'm not motivated to pay the $90 for a new cap. Maybe the FJ looks better with battle scars?
