Re: What does "FJ" stand for?

Fawk Jeeps.

JF0 was the series' name. F was used for the gas models and B was used for diesel models.

I've also heard the F was the engine code and J was the body style.

Re: What does "FJ" stand for?

Im pretty sure that FJ is simply a model designation code, from back in the early days. That is how we got Jeep CJ-5 (Short Body), CJ-7 (Longer) as well as Chevy's Z-28. On the Chevy that was just an option package, like the UR, CQ, or UP, for the FJ, but it stuck as the cars (partial at times) name.

Since the old FJ's were gaining popularity around the time the CJ's were in full stride here in the U.S., the name " FJ" surely helped draw interest and popularity. The trucks were similar both cosmetically and in purpose. I am in no way saying its just named after the CJ (settle down, CJ's are damn cool anyhow), but big companies, (especially ones as smart as Toyota), know how to gain public appeal.

Either that or its named after Flo-Jo.

Rememer the T-100 pickup? Ford complained about the F-100 similarity back then.

Re: What does "FJ" stand for?

When I bought my FJ 1100 Yamaha motorcycle when they first came out, I told people "FJ" stood for "F#@*ing Jet"
