Re: FJ interchange ?

That MSRP still looks $5k too high to me. What's the exchange rate now? Close to .93 or .94 isnt it? My '07 had every option and MSRP was $32,544.

I just don't want you to be disappointed. No matter how excited you may now be, the FJ ain't a nearly $50k vehicle, not by any stretch. I don't care what they put on it.

Re: FJ interchange ?

The strength of the CAD dollar has yet to really impact vehicle pricing up here...all of our cars are way over priced, hence the growing number of people importing from the US. On the Toyota Canada website, a 2007 Auto 'C' Package has a MSRP of 37410.00. I guess if you add a whack of dealer options on you could add the $5000 on pretty quickly....but with the 08s on there way, there should be some big savings on the 07s.

Re: FJ interchange ?

north... honestly bud, for that kinda coin, buy a base model iceburg auto, walk in the door and tell them 28k out the door for a price, if they won't go for that, go to edmonton, there's like 7 toyo dealers in the edmonton area, tons with leftover 07 stock still. you can get the same kinda fj for a hell of a lot less then 47k. DO NOT buy from the fort mac dealership. I was born and raised up there, every car dealership up there is just out to rip you off bigtime. go through a bank, get a loan from them and walk in the door with what you want in your head and and a cheque to buy it rightout. they are bending you over bigtime. and no liftkit should cost near 5 grand. the allpro 3" lift with the upper control arms only comes to approx 2600, and i bet they are trying to give you some cheezy ass spacer crap. buy as base as you can and get the stuff aftermarket. it will cost a hell of a lot less. i'm building an fj up here in just over a month and mine with aftermarket rims/tires, complete allpro 3" lift with upper control arms, road armor titan front bumper and more is not gonna come out to 47k. DO NOT DO IT! for 47k you can buy an 07 with all the options you could ever want and just get it repainted for less then that. don't let them screw you.

Maybe the dealers had to pay for the inventory in weaker CAD$ some time ago. I'm not sure how that works, but I do know that businesses which import a lot often play with futures to try and hedge currency fluctuations.

Re: FJ interchange ?

Geez guys... I think it's his money. I know you're trying to help him save a buck, but he seems content with his deal don't kill it for him, give the guy a break... When I bought mine in Dec there was about a $6,000 CAD Arbitrage between the Canadian purchase and US purchase which includes all Duty, taxes, reasonable transportation costs and exchage... That was at 0.88 Cad/USD. with The strong Canadian Dollar the spread is even higher... A fully loaded "C" package was in your Canadian driveway for about $42k CAD... I got mine home for $36K CAD based on US price of $28.7K So yeah, he probably could have saved a few bucks, but he's also done some mods right out of the box, and Fort Mac is Fort Mac and he's happy... Besides Northstar, It's a great truck at any price and I hope you enjoy it at least as much as most of us have!!!

Cheers!
