Re: FJ Cruiser = Money Pit = Divorce = Addiction

These posts are classic...and accurate... I need help..I am terribly hooked on this vehicle, the communities, events......

Had been researching lift kits ever since I attended Cruise Moab this past April. Did cliff hanger, Poison Spider, and Hells Revenge (even Hells Gate), all with my stock FJC..

To top it off, The TTT film crew was on hand and was all over the fact that we were doing all these trails with a stock FJC..We were like rock stars...film crew in tow at every feature...Look for the video to be added to the TTT web site soon.

So the advice to not rush in and buy crap but research, is very key..

My FJ came with roof rack, rock rails, tire cover, off road package, tow package, TRD exhaust.

I added the lights on the bumper, skid plate, bandi mount for the CB (had to have one for CM08), CObra 75 CB (awesome CB), High lift and Hi lift mount from All-Pro (awesome mount).

When I showed up at Cruise Moab, all the Fjs were lifted 3" everyone had the ARB bumpers..They all teased me about the bling skid plate..

Advise: don't buy the skid plate if you are going to buy a real bumper. You don't need both. The skid plate can be installed with a new bumper but it makes it too low and it will inhibit clearance for off road features.. ( i am glad I had it on at CM08 because I was stock then and it really saved my radiator..

The Bandi mount for the CB is the bomb love that.

The lights on the bumper were cool when I had the stock bumper, look just like the TRD special edition. And you can add them to your new bumper.

Went with the ProComp 3" lift vs. OME. Don't think it really matters, both use Monroe shocks and struts, both use heavier springs when ARB w/winch bumper is installed.

Here is maybe some good advice. If you can afford it, do the ARB bumper with Winch at the same time you do your lift. They install heavier duty springs with the ARB bumper with winch, then if you only lift with stock bumper. To go back and add the bumper later, will cost about 450.00 to install heavier springs.

I went with the 33" BFG AT, same as the TTT rigs. Not the best tire but really good looking, quiet ride too.

I just had all installed and have been stopped about 4 times since Friday. Everyone that has stopped has said great thingds about how the FJ looks.

I am really happy with how it turned out. will load a picture tomorrow.

Re: FJ Cruiser = Money Pit = Divorce = Addiction

The only mods you need are tires and maybe an engine skid.

I have been able to say "No" to mods, and pride myself on my self-discipline. No way I am gonna get caught up in that losing game. It's a whirlpool descent into hell - for losers

Re: FJ Cruiser = Money Pit = Divorce = Addiction

we have meetings every second thursday of the month, but first you have to admit you have a problem, the meeting is not to get you to stop modding, but to help you get money without your old lady hassling you and her knowing about it, i pimp out my body and that works great for me
