Some Answers to the Newbies Questions

I'm seeing a lot of newbie questions on how things on the FJ work or
when is the best time to use it's options, like A-trac or the rear locker.
I know the owners manual can be a bit vague. I was curious if you guys have been to Toyotas website in the FJ Bulletin sections.
They explain everything with animated tutorials and short video clips.
This may help answer your questions or stop some of the on going debates here (even Toyota admits a solid front axle is better for rock crawling )

Toyota.com : Vehicles : FJ Cruiser : Bulletin

Just trying to cut down on some of the repetitive threads

Moderator Edit: Another great place to find answers to common questions is the FJ Cruiser Technical Article section.

Re: Some Answers to the Newbies Questions

I'm new to the forum and new to 4 wheel drive. I hope to be buying a new FJ next week.

I found the videos on the FJ Bulletin to be VERY informative. They explained the whys and hows of the drive train even better than the sales guys.

I do wish they would expand on some of the topics though.

Re: Some Answers to the Newbies Questions

I agree, the tutorials are very helpful, however, My contention is now and has always been that I learn better hearing from someone with true life experience. There is no substitute for having "been there" exp. like quite a few members on here. For that reason, when I ask a question I know for almost certainty someone on here will alot more on the subject that I Do. I think it's the personal touch I like most and all the diff. feedback i get. That way I can pick and choose what makes sense to me and my application. I used to love explaining how certain dive equipment worked to the newbies when I was instructing way back in my Military days. Alot of my students would come to me after class and would say how much more it sank in hearing it rather than reading it!

Anyway, I'm grateful for all the help I've received from the seasoned vets on here, I want to say thanks.
