And it always depends on the situation. Those kinetic lines are great for jerking you out when you're stuck and using another truck. But if you need to attach a line to a tree, the winch line is what I'd use. And a tree saver! (duh)

Re: tow line svs linetic snatch lines

Just stay away from tow lines that have metal hooks on the ends. I had one break when towing a neighbor's car out of a snow drift with my jeep; the metal hook shot straight back at the front of the jeep. It broke the turn signal light and put a rather large dent in the fender. I'm lucky it didn't come toward the windshield or anyone standing around the jeep.

I use a 3" x 30' snatch line. It is rated at 27,000 Lbs static and 13,500 continuous load. Given its ability to strech, I think it is easier on my FJ and the vehicle I am pulling out of a bad spot.

Re: tow line svs linetic snatch lines

A tow line is for just that, moving a vehicle that is unhindered (Free Movement). DO NOT USE A TOW LINE FOR PULLING A STUCK VEHICLE. That is what a Winch is for or like Maureen said a Kintic Snatch Line is used for this purpose. Please be safe when freeing any stuck vehicle.

And Tread Lightly
