I was just curious if anyone has ran their gas tank down? My fuel light comes on and I go about 4 miles and then get gas. This issue is I can only get about 15 or 16 gallons in the tank. I know that it has a 19 gallon tank, but does anyone know how far you can go with the gas light on? I know in my other Toyota (a 4runner on 33's and a lift) it was about 35 to 40 miles. I didn't know if anyone else has "tested" this yet. ~
I tested mine the other day but didn't dare to go any farther than 50 miles driving was mixed country. Hope this helps i believe someone with spare fuel on board might have a better answer.

I completely exhausted my tank (i.e. ran out of fuel ) and on filling could only get 17 gals in. Not sure what happened to the other supposed two gals.
rode for 10 miles today on empty and decided to fill up....only got 15 gallons in......so one of 2 things....either the 19 gallon thing is bull****.....or on empty we should have around 50 miles

thanks, there for a second I thought I was going crazy trying to put 19 gal in this tank and never makin it!
It has been a while but early models had a sticking gas float. I had about a quarter tank of gas and light never came on to warn me when I finally ran out of gas I looked my trip meter (which I set it each time I fill up) it showed 354 considering when warning light comes on it usually reads around 270 so yes you probably could go another 40 or 50 miles but remember a lot of factors may change that Automatic versus Manual, tires (back then I had the stock size tires) road conditions.
i have had mine since march of 06 and have ran the gas down till the light came on probably about a dozen times. if i fill up right away when it comes on it takes around 15gallons to fill. the most i've had to put in was 18 and a half (was cutting it a little close). i haven't run totally out yet but if anyone dose don't sweat it, Toyota has self priming fuel injectors as do many other engines these days.

As best I can tell, you got about 4 gallons left in the tank when the light comes on, but only ~2 gallons of that is accessible to the fuel pickup. So whatever you mpg x2 gallons will be pretty close.
