Leveling Kit

I plan to get a leveling kit for my 08 FJ, are any better than others?

Are 33" tires able to fit under with just a leveling kit?

Re: Leveling Kit

I would highly recommend the following:

1) Sit down, take a deep breath, and relax the urge to go out and lift the front end immediately (helps if you assist this step with an adult beverage)

2) Perform a search on the forum, for terms such as 'lift', or 'suspension lift', etc.. I would also recommend browsing the Suspension and 4X4 Tech forums.

3) Read, study, and then read and study some more. There are a multitude of threads that discuss lifting and suspension modifications, and there is never enough to learn before plunking down hard cash and spending precious time to perform the work.

I'm only recommending the above advice, as I went the 'front-end lift only' route, using 2" steel spacers, then removed them and went with a true suspension replacement (front and rear). Ended up doing twice the work, when I should have done my homework first.

In the end, it all depends upon why you want to lift. And you are the only one that can answer that question. Taking the time and patience to read the wealth of information on this forum will give you confidence and sage advice before attempting the job.

Re: Leveling Kit

I just like the look better when FJ's have a level look.
I purchased the base model FJ in Black and I went with the base because I thought in the future when I go with more off road mods I would at that time add better lockers. Have I thought this right?

Only you can answer that question... Myself I have the electric locker and enjoy the fact it is warranted for 5yr or 60,000 miles. Plus add in the fact it is all built in and looks nice and tidy, and you can add the A-Track. I don't know? Like I said only you can answer that question.

But for sure I would take everyone's advise above and search this forum well, before you spend anymore money. Good Luck, and welcome aboard.
