Tire Size Question ?

When I bought my FJ it came with the Off-Road package. The tires are the BFGoodrich Rugged Trails 265/75/16. My question is can I put on the BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain 265/75/16 without lifting the FJ or putting on spacers on the wheels. A guy at a 4X4 shop said that I would have to have spacers, why if the tires are the same size. Help me please. Thanks

Re: Tire Size Question ?

I'm no expert, I'm sure someone else will post up. With the 2 tires being the same size, 265/75/16 I can't see the need for any modifications ie spacers or a lift kit. What was the guys answer at the 4x4 shop when you asked him why about the spacers ?

Re: Tire Size Question ?

I put Toyo Open Country A/T 285/75/16 on my 5 spoke offroad wheels and they didn't rub even before I lifted it. those are 32.8" tall and 11.2 wide. I think your tire shop guy blew a spliff for lunch.

Re: Tire Size Question ?

the mud terrain tire should fit no problem. will you be running the stock wheel? i think when people run after market wheels is when the rubbung issues start. check the tires and wheels section. some great info there.
