What does this button do?

Hi all, new here as I just got an FJ a few days ago and I love it! I just have one question though. On the two rows of button inside below the A/C, on the bottom right there is a button that looks like it has a car with sound waves or something coming from the roof and "OFF" underneath it. Pressing it doesn't seem to do anything and it is not shown in the manual...so what does it do? I bought it used with 3,500 miles and it didn't come with a window sticker or anything that list all the options.

Thanks.

Re: What does this button do?

i beleive thats the reverse proximity sensor.... you can test it by putting your FJ in reverse and move it close and closer to an object at the rear of your vehicel, (preferable a wall) it should start beeping as you get closer

Re: What does this button do?

First of all Welcome to the forum. The switch you describe sounds like someone added aftermarket roof lights with an aftermarket switch, mine has a blank cover in it, my parking sensor switch is located just to the left of that. You could take a picture and post it but only after you have 4 posts. Regarding the window sticker...The dealer can give you a print out of the build sheet if you ask them.

No, the reverse parking assist button is different than this one. Thank you for the reply though.

Re: What does this button do?

It turns off the interior motion sensor for the factory upgraded alarm. This is there in case you decide to sleep in your truck or leave a pet in there. You will find it in the manual for the alarm.

Thanks for the welcome. That was one thought that maybe it was for lights, but my FJ doesn't have any roof lights, no holes where they would have been, and in fact it doesn't even have a roof rack so it isn't possible they could have been mounted on there somehow. The button looks totally factory, which makes me think it is related to something that came with the vehicle. My only other thought is maybe it has to do with satellite radio, as it has that...but why a separate button for it not located on the radio? Also, pushing it does nothing when satellite is being used.

Ahh thanks! They didn't give me a booklet for the alarm, in fact I wasn't even aware it had one. They didn't give me any key FOBs either which made no sense because it has the convenience package. They are still supposed to give those to me. I'll see if I can get an alarm manual too.
