bumper scratched at work! grrr! help!

So my FJ is a young 3 weeks old.. and as I go to leave out of the work garage last night.. I discover someone must have tagged my bumper as they backed out! Got some scratches that go all the way to the black underneath the silver? paint.. Can I buff this and then use touch up pain? Or is too deep? I searched the forum, and read descriptions on how to fix paint chips, but these seem deeper then paint chips. And if I do get touch up paint, I assume the silver=titanium?

I am so mad!!! I almost want to drive through the garage and find the car that has my paint on it

Thanks in advance for the help!

Erik

Erik, bummer. I'd consider this an upgrade opportunity. The first scratch is the hardest. I've got like 1000 and counting. I was the same way when mine was brand new. Now I can't wait to rip the rear bumper right off the truck.

Before getting too upset, consider it a calling - your FJC longs for the trail life, looking forward to a time when the damage to your FJC is secondary to the location it got you to...The first scratch is the hardest - after a couple of good trail runs, you won't care if the bumper falls off you'll be having so much fun

Try doing the black out on the wings. Then you can touch up when you want to.

I feel your frustration!

However, now that you have the scratch the pressure is off and maybe a off-road trip is needed to help?

If you do decide to touch it up then you'll want to use the paint code 1C8 touch-up paint. That is the silver metallic paint that matches the bumper wings. I painted my DeMello bumper this collor and it matches the silver trim on the truck perfectly.

Thanks

I think the blacked out idea is better suited to some colors more than others. The sandstorm Imo looks the best with the blacked out wings and bezel.
