Cost of FJs over time?

On the Today show this morning they had a fella talking about something in Consumer reports where it was a list of new cars and how much they cost over time.. like for scheduled maintenance, etc. That's something I was thinking about too, anyone know of any sites out there that will not only list a MSRP but also projected costs of ownership? for any car not just the FJ... or am I just gonna have to sign up for consumer reports I'm curious to see how it all stacks up

You must not be doing much modifying to bring it in at one million dollars. (note mods for The Scorpion)... I'm FJ-Poor, but it is worth it!

I don't trust Consumer Reports for anything ... they've been caught cheating so many times they've lost all credibility with me.

Re: Cost of FJs over time?

Cool thanks for the link. Interesting to see all the other costs that you probably wouldn't normally think about. The FJ seems to be a lot better than I was expecting, also liked how the depreciation value is lower than everything else I was looking at

Re: Cost of FJs over time?

Cost of ownership is going to be high for any SUV because of mileage but the FJ is a toyota so repairs should be few and far between. Toyota and Honda make the most reliable veichles everyone else is pretty far back.

Re: Cost of FJs over time?

I just noticed on there their fuel estimate is probably way off, it says they base it on $1.02 a gallon for regular ..? ha!

Either way, still a much better value than the JK or H3 I was considering. Haven't driven a H3 yet but I tried the JK and I thought it was way too uncomfortable, the only real plus IMO was being able to take the roof off, and as nice as that is it's nowhere near enough to make me want one now that I drove it. I'm also thinking the H3 will just be too expensive for me and a little too much truck.

I was also considering the Ford escape hybrid, just for gas mileage and all that.. but since I'm mostly on the highway I don't think the hybridness of it will be that much of a help. Plus it's the same size as my element and I want something bigger

Wish I could get my FJ now still waiting for my dumb old house to sell.... Maybe i'll have it in time to get a '09 at this rate...
