Lift or not to lift?

I am putting new wheels and tires on the FJ. But I need to lift my FJ. I am thinking on just a leveling kit for the front (2 1/2) and the rear(1in). What do you think is the best way to do this. I would also like some recomendations on where to purchase the products.

Re: Lift or not to lift?

Call Toytec they will get you set up with what you want. I would jsut go with the 3' lift with springs front and rear.

Re: Lift or not to lift?

I too went with the ToyTec/OME 3". Very happy with it, rides and handles great.

They are on the vendors page under forums, or www.toyteclifts.com

Thumbs up Re: Lift or not to lift?

I just lifted mine with the Daystar leveling kit 2.5"/1.5" and changed up the tires by an inch. I really like the way it handles.

Re: Lift or not to lift?

don't use a leveling kit(spacers) if you plan to offroad even semi regularly. they do nothing for the suspention. they are for looks only.If thats all you want then go ahead it's cheap. but OME or some other companies can set you up with a real lift kit for under 700 bucks front and rear. I suggest this route. also try using the search and advaced search on the black bar. Millions of topics on this subject

Re: Lift or not to lift?

I have to agree.too many 3" lifts out there for a little more than what a spacer kit will cost you. good luck

Re: Lift or not to lift?

I went with the allpro adjustable walker evans coilovers, and just leveled out the front. I got some 287 70 17 MT's on with zero rub, and I love the ride. Im not really interested in adding to much lift..in my experience, the more you depart from the factory's design, the faster you are going to be reparing everything...Also, higher is not always better, a low center of gravity can account for a lot offroad, and will be especially appreciated on road.

Well said, although I do have to say that the 1ish inch difference from a 2 inch higher spacer to a spring that sits at about 3" higher is not anything to worry about COG wise. Now a 3" vs. 6" is a different story. I wish I would of picked up the SAW coilovers I passed up for 500 bucks, but I am happy still with my OME/WE setup. hasnt failed me yet.
