Question Ground Clearance and Duplicate Keys

Here's two newby questions. I have an FJ with the off road pkg. It has the 265-75,16" tires. Do I have more ground clearance than the others with the 265-70, 17" tires?
Also, will duplicate keys start the FJ with the theft deterant system?

no.

a 16'' tire is actually a fraction of an inch smaller.

and the duplicate keys toyota gave you should have the chips in them, unless you made one at home depot yourself.

Re: Ground Clearance and Duplicate Keys

Thanks. I thought the ground clearance would be about the same. So if i understand, a key cut from the origional toyota keys won't start the FJ?
thanks again.

It has to have the chip in it from my understanding.

265/25.4x0.75x2+16=31.6
265/25.4x0.70x2+17=31.6

No difference in clearance. Tim

Re: Ground Clearance and Duplicate Keys

A point of clarification for others reading this..... Only the '08's have chips in the keys, the '07's don't. The OP has the Off-Road package so it's an '08 and therefore has the key chip.

Re: Ground Clearance and Duplicate Keys

Thanks for the replies. The theft deterant system I guess is a good idea. I wonder how effective it really is.

Re: Ground Clearance and Duplicate Keys

I wonder if the 08 chip only applies to the ignition. I'm thinking, a home depot key would be OK to keep in your wallet in case you accidentally lock yourself out of the truck with the OEM key inside. I did this with a flat no chip key from a locksmith, so it wouldn't bulge my wallet too much. Of course, I have an 07.

I think your right. A non chip key should get you into the vehicle.
