Re: are sliders different from rock rails?

If your looking for parking lot ding protection, there are many brands of sliders/rock rails/running boards available and some brands stick out further than others. Check them all out before you buy. A 'search' on this forum will help narrow it down. Some stick out far enough to be used as steps.

Re: are sliders different from rock rails?

Here is the best info on this issue:

Complete Slider Comparison

What it lacks though, is data on how far each protrudes from the vehicle. After much pondering, I finally ordered Demello's hybrids. He has a new slider out which is lighter. I'm sure they are all great... so it just comes down to personal preference/ $$.

Re: are sliders different from rock rails?

as i understand the terms

the kind that protect your rig from damage
rock rails
sliders

the kind that dont protect
running boards
rocker panels
step rails

there may be other terms out there as well but those are the ones i hear tossed around and many times used interchangably but thats how i break them down

Re: are sliders different from rock rails?

I have a set of BudBuilt which are very much like the All Pro.....they stick out about 4-6 inches in upward angle....and also have a kick out at rear to help protect rear qtr panel on body.....good for door protection from other cars as well. Also secondary use as steps if you use non slip tape or something on top for safety reasons
