hood protector

i know they make a hood bug deflector but i was wonderingif this helps against rock chips to the hood. my hood looks like i shot it with a shoygun . i was wondering if they make a hood bra for the fj or if there is anything out there to help with the rock chips. thanks.

Stay away from the Weathertech hood protector by the way! It's a POS.

Re: hood protector

I have a clear mask on my hood, A-pillar and side mirrors. Works pretty well and it's guaranteed to not yellow. X-pel and 3M are some good brands out there.

Re: hood protector

I have the OEM bug deflector, it protects the leading edge of the Hood, that's about it.

Re: hood protector

I had 3M film installed on the leading edge of the hood (from the front edge to about 12 inches back), A-pillars, upper windshield trip cap, mirrors, etc.... and it's done a great job.

why? what happened to you and the Weathertech hood protector? I love Weathertech window vent shields.....used them on all my vehicles so very surprised their hood protector is not as good as their other items....

thanks for sharing your personal experience....looking forward to it.

I also have the Weathertech window visors and love them, but I was very disappointed with the hood protector. When I recieved the hood protector, it would not fit on the hood and caused scratches.

It seems, to save shipping cost, Weathertech bends the ends of the hood protector farther in and then shrink wraps it to fit in a smaller box. therefore you had to force the hood protector on the hood and then fasten it. Very poor design. The install instructions were also very poor.
