How deep??

What water depth can I take a stock model into without running into any problems, and what problems could arise.
Sorry but I'm new to this.

Re: How deep??

dont gove over the rear differential or you may have some problems. You can do the rear dif. mod for real cheap and then you can go up to the intake inside the wheel well. I try and keep the water under the door sill but others like to go swimming

Re: How deep??

Welcome,

Toyota says 'fording' depth is 27.5 inches. That means moving right along and not stopped, sitting in the water. The rear axle vents are only 18-19" above the ground with stock tires. The front diff and the ADD (on the 5AT models) are already high up in the engine compartment (driver's side next to engine). The TC and the trans vents are in between in height laying on the bellhousing.

Suggest you read the SCUBA mod thread and it will take you thru raising and rerouting all the vents on the trans, transfer case, rear axles and rear e-locker(if you have one).

I hope this helps.

Enjoy your FJ!

Make sure you paint a big red "X" on top so the helicopter can see you.

Oh yeah, I forgot that step. And make sure you have a scuba tank so you don't drown!

Blow WHAT off with your wife's hair dryer? I assume the WD-40 keeps the friction down to a minimum, 'specially with new undapants? Name: showoff.gif
