Re: Is the TT model worth the extra money

Stopped at one of the nearby Toyota dealers this evening. They had a sandstorm FJ in the showroom that I took a look at (I decided I'm going with either silver or sandstorm). It was a manual which I didn't want, but they loaded every option available on it bringing the sticker to over $32k. The scumbag salesman left his pizza and slithered over to tell me that the FJs are really hot and hard to get and that this one is a special edition model. When I told him that the Trail Team is the special edition this year and it's white, not sandstorm he immediately changed the subject and started explaining how the sandstorm models were hard to get. Only problem with that there is another dealer further away from me that has 2 of them. When I told him that he shut up and backed off.

The search continues because I'm not buying anything from that dealer.

I finally decided to go with a base model with the CQ and offroad packages, a roof rack and trailer hitch (the C7 package). Hopefully I can find one configured like that for less then $32K!

Re: Is the TT model worth the extra money

I just bough my FJ a couple of weeks ago. I went to buy the TT but decided I did like the two tone better. I ended up with a brick colored one with the off road package, CQ, brush guard and sliders. I have since added a 3" lift, painted my mirrors and door handles (bumpers will be painted tomorrow), cut off three inches on the automatic shifter handle, added off road lights to the brush guard, debadged it, added three extra power outlets(one in the drivers jockey box for my GPS) and put about 200 miles of off road use. I think my decision to not go with the TT paid off because I was able to get them down on the price of the brick one. They wouldn't budge on the TT! It all comes down to how well you like the solid white. Everything else (minus the TT badges) can be changed easily to match the TT.

Sounds like a good decision. Save the extra money from not buying the TT and use it for mods. You should definitely be able to find one for less than 32k. Probably around 25 or 26k. There is currently a TT for sale in my area and they are asking 33k.

Re: Is the TT model worth the extra money

i would say that if you plan on lifting it the TT is not worth the money, cause you will want longer travel on your shocks. a little rule of thumb...whatever the factory does to a vehicle, you can do it better for 2/3 the price!

Re: Is the TT model worth the extra money

seems like you have to really want white with blackout trim to pony up the extra cash on the TT vs. the nonTTs... unless they are finally discounting them... some dealers here in Colorado have them on the lots... not spoken for... so if you can get the price closer to invoice it becomes a color choice... definitely not a functional one...

Re: Is the TT model worth the extra money

it's not worth the ten grand you pay over the cost of a base model.

but it looks cool.

and that's all that matters.

srsly.
