Hi all, new member here. Been a lurker for a while but I'm to the point that I think it's about time that I got my FJ.
I'm not into hard core rock crawling and we don't have any deserts to run on in Connecticut. I'm looking more at snow, dirt roads and some off road trails. Is the TT model with the extra money for something like that or would I be better off with a base model with the Offroad Package?
I know the TT has the skid plates, but other that that and the white paint job there doesn't seem to be any other difference from the offroad package.
What were you quoted on each vehicle? What is your price difference?
I bought my TT for 32,975 on Feb. 8th I have since replaced front and rear bumper, rock sliders, and replaced/added the skid plates (added the tranny and diff). I bought it because it was white, not because of the packages. Also, there should be a slightly higher resale value for a special edition vehicle.
Edit, Oh ya, I also replace my suspension to Fox Shox 2.0 with adjustable resevoirs, got new UCA's and Rear Lower links...

Any input would be appreciated.
Your probably better off buy a base madel and building it up yourself, just make sure that you get the rear diff. lock so you can add the a-track. Of course if you like the paint, and the shifters...I say go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the white and black looks cool, but is it worth it?im not sure

Difference on the price will buy you lots of gas or other toys as much as I like the all white other than rear skids it doesn't really offer you anything special that you can't get after market.
You get nice tires, good 16" rims, all weather mats throughout, bumper mounted front auxiliary lights, TRD exhaust, front and rear aluminum skids, Trail Teams badges and shift knobs, upgraded stereo system, blacked out bumpers, door handles, mirrors, and rims. And you get the solid white paint. I think the Off Road package has the same shocks but that's the only things they have in common. The tires in the TT package are a good bit better than the ones in the Off Road package if you plan to leave them stock until they wear out (like me).
I've never been one to modify extensively so getting these mods right up front was nice. I drive mostly on pavement but have started exploring some local forest trails since getting the TTSE and I really enjoy the experience so far. I see how the mod bug can bite now that I've seen some things off the beaten path. I'd like a lift kit for a couple extra inches of approach/departure and breakover, new front bumper and better skids all around, oh and the Gobi Stealth roof rack which goes on this week.
If you're going to replace most of what differentiates the TTSE from a stocker with after market parts I don't see the need to pay the premium for these extras which you won't use.
if you want a truck for the snow, make sure you get the manual... it's 4x4 all the time.
much much better for the traction... i've driven in the CT crazy weather... i'd have loved to own this beast when i lived there.
as far as the extra cash... i'd pay for the paint... other than that... everything else is pretty much show.
I meet kylecruiser this weekend in Harlan and the first thing he said was that he was second guessing his decision to buy the tt. Same as above when you get it out the odds are good you will become addticted and want to upgrade. All the extras will be the first to go. If you really think that you wont go wheelin' very often the I would say to buy it. The only problem is wheelin' is worst than crack and just as expensive.
