Thoughts about my FJ: 500 mile report

Things I like about the FJ:

1. Does not feel underpowered. I never feel the "gee this truck is sluggish" thing. I did with my Jeep Wrangler and my ZR2 Blazer.

2. Great looking vehicle. Several people have commented on the FJ's good looks.

3. Comfortable and pleasant on the road. Handles well. Very stable (strong winds do move it some, but that is the nature of the vehicle type).

4. Excellent room for my needs - especially with the back seats folded. It is nice to have room to carry stuff.

Things I need:

1. I have speaker grills for the back. Will pick up some speakers this week.

2. Vent visors on the way.

3. Factory hitch on the way.

4. Driving lights in the future.

5. Considering 3M protective film for the front.

I have some concern about future windshield issues, but that is a wait and see deal.

At this point I don't have any complaints about the FJ. I am very happy with it!

Agreed, there isn't much to not like about this truck. You will want to look over the great headlight comparison thread. After seeing the different options available to replace the stock bulbs I decided to upgrade to Silverstar Ultras for normal use and mount some Hella 500s to the bumper for offroad. I just stuck a pair of cheap fogs behind the lower grill and will evaluate their usefulness this week.

I don't wish to rain on your parade but I'm at about the same mileage on mine and I feel pretty satisfied. Just wish it had a LARGER FUEL TANK, HELLO TOYOTA!!! HOW ABOUT 24 GALLONS!!!

That would be too good to be true though. I'm impressed with the on road handling and the off road capabilities.........shocking really!

Cheers!

Gee I never thought about upgrading the FJ headlights. After driving a C5 Corvette for five years, driving the FJ at night is a relief! I thought I had lost most of my night vision until I drove the FJ. The Vette was a great car, but the headlights sucked.

Re: Thoughts about my FJ: 500 mile report

(Thinking back to when I was at 500 miles)

Dude, the bond only thickins! I just ran down to Burger King and rolled 18,000 miles and arrived back home with a smile : ) I would definately drop in some Sylvainia Ultra or PIAA headlight bulbs. It is a "VERY" easy to do. It broadens the light pattern to the sides so deer don't sneak up on you.
With the windshield, I have had a few "Death Star" smacks on mine. Both times I immediately used one of those $12 windshield repar kits on them and they are both a non-issue.
To miles and miles of smiles
