Re: How much drop can a stock FJ handle

Just back up and hammer it. you should try to fly off the ledge straight on at about 40-50 mph. You won't even notice it and you will clear it for sure.

Did you do that on purpose? And were you able to get out on your own, or did it require recovery?

thanks for the hint. I was considering doing Steelbender this summer and was concerned about that drop towards the end. appreciate the help!

Steelbender was the first trail I took while still in stock config (just larger tires, no lift)

It went fine. Get a lift, and you can run the trail backwards!

Yes, I did that on purpose. The ground there is very soft so I wasn't worried about it.

Had to be pulled forward off the ledge... these kinds of things happen when you go out with homedad.

You mean this drop(The Fall)....

We did Steelbender this past weekend and it is easily one of my favorite trails in Moab. That is me in my "stock w/ armor" FJ about to take the drop. No lift here, the only mods I have are sliders, skids, and aftermarket tires(same size as stock however). Just LISTEN/WATCH your spotter and you will do fine.
