Just a thought, and there may be a thread already out there that does this, but as I work on the FJ adding mods and such I usually find something that I wonder why it's there or what it does.
I was thinking of a thread where newbie mechanics like myself can post a picture or a description and someone who has expirience with these things can help us out...The other option is I just remove the part and see if the FJ runs any differently!
The first one that comes to mind is the female plug that is behind the molding on the A Pillar...what hooks into that and can I use it for any other reason?

To add to Domonic and Uphill's response: The connector in the drivers side 'A' pillar has wiring to support the factory roof lights. If you connect the special roof light switch, relay and fuse you will have switched 12v power at that connector which you can wire to whatever you want. To actually get to lights on the roof requires a harness with a special bulkhead connector (have to drill hole in roof) or route your own wires. Note: the factory wiring is setup to only enable the relay when the highbeams are on. The connector also has wires to support an automatic dimming rearview mirror (which Toyota doesn't actually have). However this does mean that there is an ignition (not acc) circuit in that plug. I use that circuit to power my GPS. This keeps the power supply and wiring out of sight. If I remember the schematic correctly there is also a dimmer circuit available which could be used for gauges mounted to the 'A' pillar.
is there a pre-wire plug for driving lights put on a hoop or on front bumper...I have not found it yet?

When I took off my front grill I saw a loose wire covered up next to the horn. Is that for another horn??? I hope so

No there is not a complete pre-wire for bumper mounted lights. There is wiring from the Engine Fuse Box to a Panel above and to the left of the drivers left foot and this wiring also includes a connector in the Engine Bay (it's on the left -DS- fenderwell close to master cylinder). Toyota makes/sells their light kit which includes the pieces to make this all work. Parts needed are Switch (can use your own), Relay and fuse (goes in Engine Fuse Box), Wiring harness from inside connector above to Switch panel and finally a seperate harness from the Engine Bay connector to lights. Most aftermarket lights come with a harness that could be connected/spliced to the Engine Bay connector. The other pieces give you a fused, relay controlled circuit that is wired thru the firewall. It has the caveat that the relay will only operate when the headlights are in lowbeam.
Thanks...if my offroad lights are bright enough wont matter of Low or HIGH beam as they wont be noticeable as I proclaim LET THERE BE LIGHT and burn the retinas from ever living being within a mile.
