Missing small piece from auto trans cover

Hello there,

I just got my car back from getting detailed, and now I'm missing a small piece that covers a part of the auto transmission cover (indicated in the red circle below). I've looked at the Body/Center Console parts diagram, but can't decipher which part is the one I need.

Can anyone shed any light as to what this piece is actually for, and why a separate piece is needed to cover this corner of the transmission cover?

Attachment 1: Image of piece missing from trans cover
Attachment 2: Body / Center Console parts diagram for reference

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Missing small piece from auto trans cover

That is a cover for the safety catch/latch thing. Remove the cover and stick a screwdriver in to release the safety. This safety is what prevents you from being able to take it out of park unless the ignition is on and foot on the brake.

I believe that the procedure for this is in the owners manual.

Re: Missing small piece from auto trans cover

I'm god you posted this, I've been trying to figure out the part number myself.

Now the problem I'm finding is, everywhere wants 10$ shipping or more for it...

Heard that. I broke one of my quick fist clamps yesterday. Most places I looked wanted $9 for the clamp set and $8 to ship them. I finally found one that was free shipping. It bugs when companies try to make extra money on your shipping. This dinky little part you guys are looking at could be shoved in an envelope with a stamp on it :

Thank you all for your responses.

Unfortunately, had to pay ~ $11.00 for shipping on a $1.80 part. Such is life, I guess.
