Re: factory black steelies???

LOL, after spending a half hour cleaning the brake dust and dirt off of my 17" alloys today I wish that I had the black ones.

Re: factory black steelies???

Half Hour?

Dude, go buy some "purple power" from AutoZone or some Castrol Super Clean - both biodegradable degreasers...

That stuff works like nothing I've seen or used and I have been using it on my rims for years now.

I have a 2 Gallon jug (I think it's 2 gal) of that Purple Power stuff. I think it was like 5-10 dollars... it'll last you for years.

If I am using the pressure washer I don't have to touch the rims/tires. On my jeep I think I got down on my knees with a scrub brush like twice in 6 years...

Test it on any surfaces before going crazy with it!!!

I use it for carpet cleaning, you name it.

Re: factory black steelies???

they come standard for the FJ, less cleaning/maintenance IMO.

Just bought my FJ two days ago (silver, 4WD) & was able to find one with the black steel wheels. Love the look, alloys are too urban! Was even able to use them as a negotiating point with the dealer and save a few bucks.

Re: factory black steelies???

The Black Steelies are in fact the base wheels - you need to upgrade (either as a package or an individual option) to get the Toyota alloys.

In the "Parts for Sale" forum are several threads about people buying and selling the steelies if you are interested.

You will also find a butt-ton of discussions on after market wheels in the Modification forums if you are inclined to get something else all together.

Re: factory black steelies???

I have a full set of 5 black steelies with the Bridgestone tires up for sale - 411 miles one em. And there is a guy selling his alloys and tires for $450 with 2100 miles on em.
