Well I dont have solid numbers but the companies that are making them are reputable, TRD,AFE,and Volant. I do trust their claims but no dyno, I had a chance to do it but i own an MT and they only had a rear roller so unless I jacked up the truck i wasn't gonna do it. Beyond the horsepower though you have to think about the airflow. The filters are much larger than the stock, and also reusable. in time that alone will save ya bucks. Another reason I like mine is the engine breathability. the larger filter and a straight pipe to the intake vs. the stock snake tube in itself is a no brainer as to performance. lastly the intake temp on the scangauge dropped to 1 degree above ambient temp. colder air= more HP. again no solid evidence, only informed opinion.

You and BoBoNel don't count. You two run over everything!

I hear ya man, I'm interested to see the evidence too but as stated I am happy with it. For a hunred an somethin bucks, it already paid for itself in filters I would have bought. Have you asked the manufacturers?

Sorry, but that just doesn't cut it. I need actual evidence. Third party evidence. Anything else is worthless.
You are correct and there is none to note, at least, not published. If you do a search for "PDX dyno day" or something similar, you should find the results from that day.
Their dyno pulls were NOT done on an FJ before install (for a baseline) and after install (to see a true difference). What it did show was that there was little if any difference between FJ's with CAI and stock. I appreciate those the believe manufactures wouldn't "fudge" the numbers to sell more products but I'm a skeptic. I would imagine that if their numbers were factual, they would gladly produce ONE dyno run that documented their results.
The advantage is a higher flowing air filter and a "throaty" sound. I'm with you in that dropping $350+ isn't a great bang for your buck where a high flow drop in (K&N in my case) and a snorkel gives the best combo of higher flow and colder air into the throttle body...

Does the TRD CAI do anything? I have yet to see a dyno comparison, so I have to assume it does nothing...
Am I wrong?
Nope, not wrong.
Lots of CAI fans on this forum, but on the SRT10 Forum people actually dyno'd the difference in performance of the 500HP Viper engine in them with and w/o a CAI and K&N drop in filter (sorry, I don't have the charts) and found NO significant difference in HP.
So, just buy a K&N filter and spend the other $300 or so leftover on another mod instead.
