Re: Purchasing 08 FJ TT & Have Questions

New guy here. Just picked up a TT manual trans a couple weeks ago for 30k and some change. Love the thing to death. Bought it basically to haul my dirt bikes around. My buddy thinks I am nuts when we went up and over a couple jeep trails hauling three bikes in a trailer I’ve been looking sideways at the FJ since I saw my first one in 06. My drive to finally buy was my Cherokee Sport did not like hauling my bikes, got tired of smelling the hot trans. The FJ does not seem to notice the 1500lb (loaded, three bikes and gear) trailer is even there. Hill climbs and trailers, 4L and it stays nice and smooth. The rig has 1100 miles, 600 are fire roads/light jeep trails hauling the bikes. The trans gearing is very close, I usually only use 1,2,4 & 6 without the trailer. I have not yet locked the rear or used the A-Trac, I should figure those things out. Buy the thing. Only three issues I have are the roof rack sucks, no weight capacity and I have yet to figure out how to carry two Kayaks. And I dislike the sub-woofer, looks/sounds like it belongs in a KIA. Hard as hell to wash with all the little nooks and crannies and the plastic around the bottom of the wheel well collect little rocks inside. I see those packing full of mud this winter. I think I may fill them with spray foam. The rest is gold in my book. Besides where else are you going to find groups like this talking about/supporting one truck.

Re: Purchasing 08 FJ TT & Have Questions

Hey everyone. New guy here. I just bought my TT on Tuesday in Northern Virginia. I was shopping for an FJ and then they said this white one just came in as a Demo...I asked for the numbers and since it was a demo, I got it down to 27,500. It's brand new...I looked all over it for any kind of sign of damage and nothing. It is an automatic and no roof rack. This is just my .02 cents, just buy one stock and make decisions based on money and actual need. I can't tell you how many times I've contemplated all the different mods and stuff just to realize I'm happy with it the way it is so far.

Re: Purchasing 08 FJ TT & Have Questions

Thanks everyone for the advice and opinions. Just left the dealership as the new owner of 08 FJ TT (Convience Pkg, Extra Mile F,Roof Rack, Brush Guard,XM & Passenger Armrest).I stayed with the TRD wheels (I can mod at later date if desired) although I had the dealership turn the RWL tires to show black wall out.

Thanks again,

Tim
