Alaskan_IB's very first FJ40

Hello all.....

Just want say first off that I am a total nooooooob when it comes to specs on these things and will have lots of stupid questions. With that out of the way I will tell you guys about me a bit.

I grew up in Alaska and love the outdoors. My father had three 1970's FJ40's growing up and I just love them. Over the years I promised myself to buy one and restore one. I never have the time or the know how so here I am at 32 years old and thinking it will never happen. My wife loves old classic cars as much as I do (Thank you God) and just last Monday I saw her sitting at an airport for sell. (love at first site)

Now for the history on the old girl. Its a 1969 FJ40 Forest Green. It was owned by a doctor who only drove it 2,500 miles before the engine seized up. So he did what any good hard working doctor would do. He parked it until his death and never drove it again. No lie!!!!!!!! it sat for 35 years in his garage. At an estate sell it sold were a man purchases it then restored the engine and changed out some seals and gearing due to pitting from sitting so long. He put around 10k or so into a new paint job, seals, gears and ext. It looks brand new right off the showroom floor.....almost everything is original. The only few changes made were done by the doctor when he bought it. He added a second gas tank under the seat from the dealer, went back to the old 68 engine design to get rid of the smog hoses and lines and he got rid of the column shifter and put a three speed shifter.

Well thats if for me guys I promise to have pics in a day or so....I am in Alaska and the wife had to actually buy it for me since I was on the way to the airport the night I saw it for sale. She got to drive it first and loves rubbing it in.

Robert
