Dynolicious results & Questions

So I have Dynolicious on my iPhone and have been trying it on my cars & have questions.

I was kinda dissapointed on the results of my 325ci... but so I decided to try it out on my TT edition FJ Cruiser... with TRD CAI, I set the weight with occupants & stuff in the truck to about 4550lbs.

0-60 was 8.93 secs with peak wheel hp at 162... factoring in drivetrain loss that puts hp at 188 or so... that seems much lower than 239.

Am I doing something wrong? Others seem to be getting pretty accurate results with Dynolicious... but these seem off on my cars.

BTW the BMW 325ci gets 7.7 sec 0-60 and 169hp peak... which is worse than stock considering the mods I have... so something must be off with how I have dynolicious setup.

Re: Dynolicious results & Questions

MT or AT? Were you at sea level? Did you correct for temp and humidity? Any wind? I don't know what the specific drivetrain losses are for the FJ but typically they run anywhere from 19-26%. 25% being the norm.

Re: Dynolicious results & Questions

Garbage in = garbage out.

To get higher precision, you need to input data with higher precision. That means all the stuff that DEWFPO identified as well as more accurate weight of the vehicle, meaning weight at the time of the test. The differences between a full tank of gas, a passenger or two can mean quite a bit when calculations are being made...

Re: Dynolicious results & Questions

The Dynolicious program on the iPhone only lets you set the weight & drivetrain loss... it's not completely precise, but is just as precise as a stand alone G-Tech. It uses the iPhone's built in accelerometers.

I just want to use it to get a ball park figure... so I don't need to be completely precise... but with a peak hp at 162... something is off... the weight at time of test?

Maybe the weight is off? My FJ is a 2008 Trail Teams, AT, only extra weight was my Hi-Lift jack, full tank of gas, and me... who is kinda husky at 230lbs.

Re: Dynolicious results & Questions

If the flywheel hp on the FJ is 239 + CAI= 249... & it's putting out 162... that's a 35% drivetrain loss...

Maybe someone can give me a more accurate curb weight for the FJ.

Re: Dynolicious results & Questions

Your Weight is way off:
4290 is the base weight of the truck COMPLETELY empty.

so to figure out the weight:
4290
+ 6.2 (median weight for a gallon of gas) X gallons in tank (19 is rated, holds about 20 with pipes)

+ Your weight
+ Your passengers
+ Your hi - lift (around 25 pounds i would say)
+ The extras that arent standard (roof rack, rails, trailer hitch, after market tires/wheels)
- Alloy wheels over stock
+ ~ 20 pounds for various fluids

4500 pounds is the average 200 pound guy sitting in your truck with no gas, more realistically your weight is some where around the 4800-4850 pound range if its just you in the car with a full tank of gas. The Gross Vehicle weight for the FJ is actually at 5570 for the 4wd model.

Thats wrong, the CAI does not give you *any* increase in HP. It only changes the sound of your truck.

Re: Dynolicious results & Questions

just did another run today using GVWR as my weight & peak HP was 183 at the wheels... which falls inline with a 24% drivtrain loss so it makes more sense.

0-50 was 7.02 seconds & 0-60 was 9.46 seconds... is that right for this truck? I thought it was 7.5 seconds 0-60?

Of course I can't really powerbreak for the launch cause the vibration falsely sets off the accelerometer... I'll try again later tonight, but I'll adjust the sensitivity of the program. Maybe powerbreaking will get me a better 0-60 time...

as far as hp before and after the CAI install... I got it more for the sound (it just sounds so much more meaner)... only wish I did before and after runs with dynolicious... oh well!!!

whats advertised isn't always true.

I wouldn't be surprised if i had a 11 second 0-60 right now
