Newbie Question

Hello,

This is my 1st Toyota vehicle. We had an 99 Accord Ex V6 cpe & currently Acura TSX.So I'm completing the change over from american mfg sad but gotta go W/what's best I'm picking up my Ti FJ Mon & I have already ordered tube after market class 3 hitch. I did a serach & didn't find anything. My question is I need a 5 pin flat connect to mate up W/boat trailer.I don't want to use one of those after market harnesses because two different ones from E-trailer literally burn-up, diodes can't handle the 3 light Liberty. I need the 5th pin cause of the electric back-up disc brake on the trailer. Now I have the Jeep OEM harness W/an added adapter. Does Toyota make such a harness?

Re: Newbie Question

Not sure, mine is stock Toyota & I'm pretty sure it is: Am sure, just looked, is a 4 pin & it is flat. I would try an after market- A&A, Auto Zone, Pep Boy's, kind of place, or go to the dealer & show/tell them what your looking for. BTW, Welcome to the Forum. Hope this helps. Where in eastern Pa. are you?

Re: Newbie Question

You might try an RV dealership. Travel trailers require some heavy duty wiring and I would think their tech staff might know how and where to get you hooked up.

And welcome to the forums.... Nice choice in color too....

Re: Newbie Question

I think Toyota has a converter box to use with a 7 pin check with dealer parts to see if it will work with 5 pin.

Re: Newbie Question

Nice choice but my wife's TSX is made in Japan so you've probably already forsaken Detroit. Is it wrong to support a Japanese company that makes cars in the US, your Accord for instance, or an American company that makes cars in Mexico? Hino for me, Brother. We also had a Jeep Liberty Renegade and I can attest that you just went way up market.

Yeah the Accord we ordered back in 98 was built in Marysville OH. So i say is it better to give the avg worker a piece of the pie who builds the car or buy american vehicle that's made in Cdn. Mex or Brazil & only the upper mgt/stock holders get the proceeds.

Re: Newbie Question

All the RV places around me have the same POS that E-trailer sold me JUNK! That's why I went to jeep dealership & Will get the Toyota one. I'll just splice in the 5 pin adapter IF Toyota doesn't make one.
I live in Gilbertsville, Pa. Boat mainly @ Bluemarsh 1 day on the weekend. Am going to RaysTown for weekend on Oct W/family & friends. Curious to see how the FJ pulls vs Jeep. 29 more Hp & I believe 30+lbs Tq.
