Ok I've found someone who is selling there 2007 4x2 Fj cruiser with 37,000 miles on it for 17,000. Is this a good deal. I really don't think i need 4 x 4 I would never go of road. The fj has the tow package on it roof rack on has a few cosmetic flaws but nothing significant. She did inform me that there were some scrathes in the cargo area for loading and unloading stuff. So is this a good deal??
Fyi she did inform me that she put regular gas in it not premium (shes real honest) is this really going to hurt the vehicle. You never know when you are buyin a new vehicle if they put the right gas in it anyway!

Reason: forgot the gas issue
Welcome to the forum, ghoward11. Regular gas is fine and won't cause any problems. As far as the value of the 4x2 w/ 37k I would say 14-15 is more reasonable depending on options.
i think kinda high for a 2 wheel drive! everyone says that they will not need 4x4 but once they get an FJ than they try things that they would not do in other vehicles and than you will wish you had 4x4 you can find a decent 4x4 used for around 19

1st off.... in my experience most people that have bought the 4x2 usually end up regretting it.....not always....but most times. 2nd.....that IS a lil high for a 4x2 with that many miles. I find '07's and '08's fully loaded 4x4's here in Cali on Craigslist under 20,000 miles for $18-$22,000. My advice to you is NOT to be in a rush.....shop around. TEST DRIVE one even if you haven't....both 4x2 and 4x4. Take one out for the weekend......come out to a meet. Kick the tires so to speak. There's better deals on this forum than what you're looking at. Sounds like your money is burning a hole in yer pocket and you're willing to settle. Take yer time bro.
Don't do it. You can drive around with a 4x4 and be happy you have it when and if you need it. However if you have a 4x2, you will someday come upon a situation that you need that 4x4, and oops, should have listened.
Been there, done that.

You don't indicate where you are from, so I assume it never snows.
Ever go to the beach? How about a ride up to the mountains? Ever wonder where that dirt road goes?
Lot's of reasons to have a 4x4 instead of a 4x2. If for nothing else, resale will be easier and have a higher value.
I had a friend with a 4x2 jeep Cherokee. He kept it in great shape. He went through a down sizing at work and lost his job. He had to sell it. He had a really difficult time and got a lot less for it than he would have with a 4x4.
If none of this really matters, go to Edmund's or Kelly Blue Book and look at the resale value for your area. Make an offer.

I have a 4X2 2007 FJ. When I bought it I said I'd never go off road anyways, just like you said in post #1. Then I found this place, just like you did. Now I go offroad all the time. I regret not getting a 4X4, but I make the best of it. I can go almost everywhere a 4X4 can, as these trucks are built VERY well.
For the money, get a 4X4. You will not regret it, especially the first time you meet up with a bunch of folks from this site for a wheeling trip!
