Re: backdoor rattle

Hi all, new to the forum. Just picked up my Voodoo Blue FJ today. I did notice a rattle when I closed the rear door but it came from the spare tire cover (the rigid face hitting the tire). I would guess that hitting bumps going down the road would cause it to do the same. Just my humble opinion

There is a crumpled can of Kirin from the assembly line inside the door

Perhaps Godzilla had something to do with it. He caused a lot of trouble in Japan in the past.

Re: backdoor rattle

anyone else have this and have it getting worse? mine rattles all the time now. I think it's the body-colored insert in the rear door (it goes away when I put my hand on it)

In the past when I've had a rattle like your describing (on my Matrix)...it turned out to be the license plate rattling against the door. May not be the case here but worth looking at. I had my rear door interior cover off and didn't see anything really that could rattle, they've pretty much got everything anchored down behind the panel. Ya never know though...

Sounds like the tensioner maybe for the seatbelt or the door guides are a little out of adjustment causing a slight rattle. Have the dealer check it for ya!

yeah that was my first thought, but like I said..when I put my hand on the body-colored insert back there, it stops....so maybe they didn't use enough glue

my driver's side plastic door cover creaks like mad when I touch it too....

the advantage to getting an early VIN, I suppose

Re: backdoor rattle

I was just getting ready to search for this. Mine has it as well, right behind drivers side in rear door(very annoying if stereo isn't playing). Seems like it is worse on small bumps in the road. I put my hand on blue insert and it kinda helped but I think its coming from where the door latches at the bottom.

Re: backdoor rattle

confirmed that mine is coming from where rear driver side door is latched on the bottom. I am going to get some lithium grease tomorrow and see if that will fix it.
