backdoor rattle

Just picked up my FJ yesterday. I love it, but noticed the back door on the Drivers side has a heavy rattle when I go over bumps. Anyone else have this problem? I Hope the latch can be adjusted to get rid of it.

Re: backdoor rattle

Noise could also be coming from the latch for the back seat. I get a creaking sound over bumps that is coming from the rear seat latch on the passenger side.

Re: backdoor rattle

Could be. Ill see what the service guy says. Just kinda bothers me, just get the truck and already have to deal with this. I Traded a 2001 tundra for my FJ. The only thing the tundra went to the shop for was oil changes. Hope this isnt a sign of things to come with my FJ.

Re: backdoor rattle

Just got back from the dealer and Toyota is aware of this issue. They, as other members in forum, claim that the rattle is actually coming from the stock roof rack. That is if you have the stock roof rack. They have ordered some washers for the cross members. If you remove the cross members from the stock roof rack, the rattle should go away.

Re: backdoor rattle

fold down the back seats and take it for a ride. if the noise goes away you know it's not your roof rack.

Re: backdoor rattle

Just took it for a drive and I had someone sit behind me on the drivers side. The rattle persisted. Not sure it's the back seats since someone was actually sitting in the seat. The person sitting in the seat was not a heavy person.

Speaking as an owner of FOUR Toyotas now (3 Land Cruisers at different times)...

The back seats make an irritating squeaking sound when they shimmy against the latches or on their bottom mounts.

They don't rattle.

In fact I know it's a Toyota from the sound the back seats make.

Re: backdoor rattle

I dont have a roof rack so thats out. Its the door. The latch has a bit of play in it. I hope they can adjust it. Other than that its perfect.
