Feedback on FJ

Hi all,

I hope I' m posting in the right section. I currently drive a 07 LTZ Tahoe, I love the truck, it has all the gadgets and toys in it. Which is kinda why I can not putt anything in it, I have a black interior which turns light grey after my German Shedder. I need a truck can take a beating. I'm looking for a truck that can be utilized more, and I would also love to take it off road. I drove a an Unlimited Sahara yesterday, and I do not mind the rough ride, even kinda like it, but the truck is way to noisy inside. I was wondering how you guys like your FJ's who you use them as a daily driver, is it comfortable on long trips? any problems with FJ's? What kinda mpg do you get on your FJ? What octane do you use? I live in Dallas, and due to the heat my mpg on my tahoe dropped from 14 to 11, I ran both A/c front and rear non stop. I also heard that FJ has lots of blind spots, you guys find this a problem while driving and off roading?

Thank in advance

Re: Feedback on FJ

stay away the FJ is not the truck you are looking for.

Get a Tacoma.

While I love everything about the FJ from the fender bulges to the really terrible visibility on road and offroad, replaced pulleys, the 18 mpg, I drive my daily, and have driven it 30+ hrs and my rear end really paid the bill on that one.

I think the FJ is not the vehicle for you. Get an extracab Tacoma and call it a day.

Re: Feedback on FJ

I use mine as a somewhat daily driver. I switch with the other cars and trucks. It rides decent, a little bumpy, but hey, most rigs are. I've driven it from NH to Scottsboro, AL 16 hour drive. It was relatively comfortable. The blind spots are a noticeable and there, but you get used to them. The off-roading is very nice. My rig is currently bone stock and it takes mud and rocks like a pack mule.

I also drive a Chevy Tahoe. I have a Limited Edition Z-71 4X4 2000 with a 1999 body. It has Bilstein shocks, 3.5 suspension lift, the works. So, we have something in common, haha.

I also have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab TRD Speedway Blue and I think you'll enjoy that more than the FJ.

I looked at those, great trucks, but I want an SUV, why is an FJ not for me?

Re: Feedback on FJ

I love my FJ. Granted it isn't a perfect vehicle. My gas mileage isn't the best. (15mpg) but I could drive it nicer too. I think the ride qaulity is great. Especially from a truck this off road capable in stock form. Only you can decide what is right for you. Tacomas are pretty nice too. Go drive them, get a feel for them, then you can make a choice based on personal experience.

Re: Feedback on FJ

Well, I took one for a test drive and loved it, it was 2wd, they told me 4x4 are rare (BS). I really liked, although wanted to see how a 4x4 rides, overall I like, much more comfortable then the wrangle. They really wanted to sell me the 2WD model, saying it will do just like a 4WD. Talked me into allowing them to appraise my car. Market value of my LTZ is around 32K-34K. They offered me 21K saying it has frame damage according to their mechanic, I told them I bought it new with less then 50 miles on it and it never been in an accident and there is not a scratch on it. Their reply was that the chevy dealer sold me my Tahoe as new but with frame damage. Their sales manager came out to ask me what it would take to close the deal, I told him to go F#@# himself. Then we can talk
His reply was that I act typically like the people that drive Chevy's.

Question, do anyone of you have built in factory NAV? Is it any good? Anyone with the leather package?

I will my wife and with me this weekend to drive at a different dealer.

Re: Feedback on FJ

That's funny.
But seriously.......I love my FJ.
I would never consider a 2 x 4 tho.
4 x 4 FORE me.
My 2 cents worth.

Good point! I have had 2 as well and loved them. Would have bought a new one but couldn't afford a new 4runner. Besides the FJ is better looking IMO. And to the op get the 4x4. If you really want one do your research, know what the packages, and options are and you'll get a good deal.

Re: Feedback on FJ

Love mine, wouldn't drive anything else. The ride is about the same between the 2wd and 4wd, I've had both. Bought a 2wd and regretted it, now have a 4x4. Good to see another Dallas potential owner on here. Good luck with your decision, if you have any questions, PM me. I bought mine at Toyota of Lewisville.
