Just in front of the upper cup holder is a slot for your fingers. Place your hand in this slot and the doors closes easily.

Re: Back doors..What the???

I spend most of the time driving alone, and if the family goes anywhere we take the wife's CR-V (a great car), but the suicide doors really do suck. there's no reason the front seat passenger can't close the door, but in a crowded parking lot it's a real pain to get out (trapped by the 2 open doors).

I want to go fishing + sleep overnight in the FJ to get an early start and I can't figure how to get out of the back. One of the forum members claimed the FJ was designed to haul prisoners and he couldn't be more correct.

I do like it a lot, I just need to add an inside rear door release.

Steve.

I just use my MIND and it shuts....or it could be that the front passenger shut it for me while my eyes were closed trying to use my MIND to shut it!
Too funny

Re: Back doors..What the???

Add a door handle on the suicide doors is my project this weekend.

I bought a set of grab handles and here is where i plan to attach/mount them;

The challenge is how to reinforce the top plastic panel?

Re: Back doors..What the???

let me know how it goes...maybe you could use a really long bolt through the top of the handle into and interior base peice under the panel, could even use a block of wood inside the door frame, it it gets stripped out you could easliy replace it and it wont add extra weight to the car

Re: Back doors..What the???

I attached the grab handle to the upper door panel using wide washers and serrated/flanged 6mm nuts.

Then reinforced the upper panel using sheet metal screws at the top and bottom.

All done. The grab handles are sturdy and nice to have to pull/close the suicide doors.

Nice mod!!

But really... passengers are not tolerated, go drive your own car, besides - I may want to use that back seat....
