Upgrades List, please advise

Hey guys, I have been thinking about what I really want to put on the car, and while I'm not here to ask what to get (I think I can figure that out to an extent here), I would like to ask your opinions of the quality of the products I was thinking of here:

-aFe Stage 2 CAI
-MBRP Cat Back
-Westin Nerf Bars
-All-Pro Offroad Airdam
-Ready Lift Leveling kit
-Gobi Ladder

Most of these were chosen as middle of the road in terms of price range here, but this isn't going to be a race truck! I'm trying to keep my whole drive to school and weekend desert runs basis here, so nothing too fancy, but nothing that's going to break!

Let me know what you guys think!

Re: Upgrades List, please advise

Thanks! While some of that may not really apply to me, I still see what he's getting at.

I'm not planning on crazy rock crawling so those sliders are replaced with nerfs for me, a winch might be sweet some day and a nice demello bumper could become a match made in heaven!

Skids, though, are something I really need to look into once I can gauge exactly how much I'm going to be taking this bad boy to the desert.

Thanks again.

The nerfs don't even make a decent step though. You could probably pick up a set of the OEM running boards alot cheaper and they look alot better than the bars. The bars have these big brackets that hang down....I have never been a fan. The only ones I ever saw that I liked were the "Predator" bars. Just my 2 pennies worth though

Re: Upgrades List, please advise

Hmm, I dunno.....

I'm not looking for a step up to get to the car if it's got a 5" lift on it. I just want something that's about that price that will let me get up to the roof rack so I can put my surfboards on top without having to open the doors/step on the tires. If those little drop down bars, like the N-Fab ones, Toyota FJ Cruiser Accessories from Pure FJ Cruiser - N-Fab FJ Cruiser Nerf Bars # T0654FJ

And also, I haven't seen a running board that is new from Toyota that costs anything less than $300. Even the aftermarket ones I've seen are about that price, if not more. I was also planning on throwing some skateboard griptape on the exposed straight areas of the nerf bar, should I choose to go with the Westin one.

I think those NERF bars look good. Not the typical styled ones. For my money I think I would get some sliders. I know that you are not planning on doing any rock crawling, but for the money I would like to know that I have the protection. These nerf bars claim that they "add protection for road debris" which don't sound like they are very strong, right? Otherwise they would have said it protects from rocks? This style of neft bar you are looking at is very similar to a rock slider. However I feel the rock sliders would be more functional.

Trail gear sliders are $250 and I've nary heard an ill word about them (except the powdercoat which can and often is a problem for any vendor) They stick out at a 90 degree angle the full width of the door sills too, and you can coat them with line-x or grip tape or mountain bike tubes, for the grip when you're all wet from being at sea.

Save and save for Mattracks first. Give yourself a big goal.

Re: Upgrades List, please advise

I'd say performance before Luxury.

Go with Icon Suspension/ Lift, Tires and AFE CAI and after market exhaust. Then all the other stuff afterwards.
