I Want A FJ

Hello! I'm new to the forums and have always Loved FJ Cruisers.
Anyways, I am looking to buy a FJ cruiser, and to be honest with you I am not sure what I should be looking for! I am definitely going to get a 4x4 but would like feedback on what I should look for to put on/in my FJ.

I currently live in North Texas but plan on moving to Colorado, And hopefully take my FJ on some trails (Any In good ones in Colorado) So What's something I should be looking for. Used/ new Packages etc etc.
Sorry for me being a complete noob! I am looking and researching as much as I can, I appreciate any feed back, Thanks.
Tyler.

Re: I Want A FJ

Kinda depends on your spending range. Also if you're looking to go off road.. you're going to want 4x4. Another question is if you can drive stick... If I had the choice, I'd have picked a 6speed manual. Finding one with mods you like and the mileage you want again is a question of how much you're willing to spend.

To get an idea, why don't you go to the toyota website and build your own so you can see all the factory options.

Oh wow so you're looking at pretty much every fj on the market.. are you looking to buy new or used?

Have you checked out craigslist? by me there's always 4 or 5 new or used up for sale.. but over here in nj.

Also, try autotrader.. thats a good way to gauge your options and see distributions of prices for similar models with varying options..

Of course buying an automobile is very personable, your original inquiry sounds as though you'd like us to describe what we'd want/do?

With 28-30K I'd break down my budget into segments for the rig and aftermarket adds.

FJ 4X4: $23K
Lift/Wheel/Tire: $3K
Front Bumper: $1K
Stereo/Speaker: $1K
TOTAL: $28K

If I wanted to burn the extra $2K, to make $30K total, I'd add....

Roof Rack: $1K
Roof/Bumper Lights: $500
Winch: $500

Of course, that's just me and I'm rounding all sorts of numbers up....but the above scenario would get you started out of the gates running.

OH, and if you're seriously considering a move to CO then I'd work in a bunch of under body protection including sliders, etc. Budbuilt has a full set up for under $2K.
