stuck in the sand

I have Dunlop Grandtrek tires and today I was the only one to get badly stuck in the soft sand. Could be just my driving! How low should I take the tire pressure? 15 psi wasn't working for me. 10 was better, but I still didn't seem to be doing as well as everybody else.

Re: stuck in the sand

Hi Nick, do you usually offroad at Half-moon or somehwere else? I used to offroad with the stock tires with no problems, but I got stuck many times when driving up on dunes, which is normal. 11 psi is enough just to insure the tires remain intact with the wheels. When climbing a dune/hill, shift down to L or 2 and keep your foot the gas pedal. You may move the steering right and left slightly to give the front wheels better traction.

I hope this works for you

Re: stuck in the sand

Hi FJeddah, thanks for the advice. I'm in al Khobar and it was in the dunes near Half-moon bay that I got stuck today. I'll try the steering wheel trick. I suspect that my control of the gas pedal was lacking today. Great fun though! Looks like you have a nice rig.

My pleasure Nick Have you met any of Dammam FJC group? If not, let me know, I will ask someone to contact you there. They usually offroad every week. Good luck
