I have had my truck for about a month or so and noticed that it just felt mushy. worse than average mpg for an fj and just not right. so i check the tire pressure and what do you know.... all tires are at 28 psi. IM SO ASHAMED!!! anyway i put about 42 psi in them and what a world of difference. I bought it with 400 miles on it and im thinking that someone did some demo wheeling and dropped the tire pressure but i dont know. the embarrising thing is that i SHOULD have figured or check'd this from the get go.

If you are on stock Dunlop tires like mine, the door jam notes 32 psi in all tires. After a week of taking delivery I was on a road trip and noticed the FJ kinda wandering. The next morning I checked them cold and they were 37 psi. I backed them down to 32 and it made a difference - tracks much better.

HMMMM crap i must be just totally lost. ill back em down some. and check the web. the thing is it says max of 51 psi. so i figured 28 was way too low.
noob noob noob. what can i say.

it seems like i was getting alot of outside tread wear. ive had 2 4x4 trucks before this but never got serious. i think i need to join the local club here and learn some serious stuff and start the new hobbie off right before i really mess something up

Max Psi is the max air you can put in there say you are towing a big trailer or boat you might want to go up to about 45-50 depending on the load. If you go higher than that and you were to hit something say a rock your tire might blow out.

Get this - I checked my tire pressure a few days after delivery and they were at 56 psi !!! Yikes!!! They said it was because that's the way they come in on the car carrier truck (they do that because the chains pull down so hard). I was pissed but relievedthat I checked. 32 psi is far better (and safer).
