Alright, so I've finally made a move to take an active part in this forum; I've previously only read it from time to time and find it very informative! I'm a newbie to it all: FJs, 4x4s, and Toyota. Never thought I had a dream vehicle til I saw the FJ... So, hello all!:rocker:

I'm no pro, but I'm running Toyo Open Country A/T II's (285/70/17) on my rig and I couldn't be happier. I'm running them on stock rims and without a BMC (body mount chop) and I have no rub. Great performances on and off road. Very little road noise and they look great. I don't have a lot of tire experience, but I would recommend them.

Hi and welcome. If you're thinking tires you must assess what you'll be doing. I'm a 4x4 newb too and just widening from 265 to 285 may not give you anything. 285 all-terrains are good for traction but if you want to really "go anywhere" you will want taller and wider and into M/Ts. It depends on your goal. Consult the experts here!

Man... thanks everybody... now I have more questions for things I hadn't thought of... and new ideas after looking at your individual rides.

Quickly, I have a 2007 4x4 (stock)... the only thing of done to it thus far is preventive maintenance.
Any suggestions as to where I should begin (i.e.: tires, wheels (rims) and tires, or a lift)? I do want to eventually lift it but should I do that before any new tires are bought? And if I bought new tires now, will there be enough clearance and no rubbing... needless to say, I have both already gotten questions answered and come up with new ones.

Thanks again FJ fam!

Welcome and Congrats

Tires and Lift are a great place to start. Keep in mind though things like bumpers/winch will add some weight, so when selecting a lift choose wisely.

Many have bought 3 or 4 suspensions before settling on the right one

Search or "Google Search" FJ Cruiser Forums "subject" (example: FJ Cruiser Forums lifts) or just look through peoples Garages and/or thier Signatures. Most list everything they have :bigthumb:
