I hope I can make this one, open only to fj? I have a taco too, and run with some tacos and jeeps. They welcome? Can't make the Easter run, hoping to make this

I'm not the OP, but I know everyone is welcome.
Any vehicle as long as you follow Toyota Land Cruiser Assoc. (TLCA) and Gotham City Land Cruisers (GCLC) guidelines for the event and pass inspection.

TLCA: Vehicle Inspection Requirements.

and " Details link " in first post.

We didn't do an official breakdown of vehicles, but I would guess...

25% FJC
45% Land Cruiser
20% other Toyotas
5% buggys
The rest, anything else (Jeep, Bronco, LR, etc.)

All level trails, from ride in the park to turn me back over and get my trailer.

Check out the website in the OP for more details.

I notice fire extinguisher. All vehicles to have fire extinguisher and first aid kit? RC doesn't require that to my knowledge.

This is not a RC requirement. It is a Gotham City Land Cruiser requirement (and very similar to the Toyota Land Cruiser Assoc. safety checklist TLCA: Vehicle Inspection Requirements). It is a safety checklist of things we think everyone should have to ensure a safe event. The required equipment has been vetted over the past 14 years and is taken seriously. There is an inspection every morning. You must pass to ride with our groups.

The list is not cast in stone. Anyone who wants to debate what gear is required is welcome at our yearly meeting in Ringwood, NJ. And as an added bonus, to get people there, the food is to die for as some people here can attest to.

All that said, not sure why you would object to a fire extinguisher or first aid kit. We get more complaints about CBs (also required) than those things and it is hotly debated almost every year.

I just don't see that I can't run a trail if I don't have band aids and gauze etc. I have toilet paper and duct tape. :) I understand the protection it can offer, but don't feel it should prevent my use of the trail. But again, not trying to change the rules, just to get an understanding. I would be on greens or maybe some blues, and don't plan to roll it :) and cause a fire :) lol. Apparently though there will be tons of extinguisher s just in case

We have had to break out the First Aid kits for injuries from people walking on the trails. Last November's run one guy cut his hand on shale. This happened as we were recovering a vehicle.

I'm interested in attending this event buy I just picked up my FJ last week and I am totally stock and probably will be for a while. Is there a place for a bone stock FJ at this event? Is it even worth my time to attend in a stock truck? I'm new to off roading and would really like to get my feet wet and learn, but don't want to waste my time if its not worthwhile for me.

We have 2 special presentations lined up this year

Radio Tech session presented by Ed Morthimer
Date: Thursday July 18th 2013
Time: 7:30pm
Location: GCLC camping area at Twin Grove Campground

Ed will discuss the following:
  • The technical differences between CB and VHF radio communications: frequencies, transmit power & range, modulation, antennas, etc.
  • The operational differences between commercial VHF and Amateur (or Ham) VHF radio
  • Types and costs of Amateur and commercial VHF radios
  • FCC rules & licenses
  • Radio modifications
  • VHF antenna types, mounting location pros & cons and SWR
  • Tips & techniques for wiring DC power to the radio

A Group Discussion With Noted Land Cruiser Guru Jim Chenoweth
Date: Friday July 19th 2013
Time: 7:30pm
Location: GCLC camping area at Twin Grove Campground

Jim will select 3 CMCC particpants to line up their Cruisers to evaluate current & future repairs & modifications. Audience participation is encouraged as we consider the safety, ease and effectiveness of various techniques for fixing up this old Cruiser. The goal is to learn what is right (and occasionally wrong) and why. Jim C will moderate this group directed discussion, so bring your Cruiser for possible consideration and bring your ideas.
