NorCal FJs at Corral Hollow-Mt. Reba-Slickrock 07/21-22/07

got back a few hours ago from a great off-road/camping trip. this trip featured: RockyFJ, cedricmassa, daPitbull, cruizin4bruzin, Shreesh, EDH-FJ, and SFbadger.

it all started with the blackwood canyon/ellis peak run on thursday with RockyFJ.

then the trail runs shifted south to corral hollow, mt. reba, and slickrock.

it began with camping at sand flat on friday night

here is the initial lineup of fjs. note the color representation...but no trd? we met up with EDH-FJ and SFbadger later on.

taking a break near the meadow of mule's ear

climbing up the hill

after corral hollow, a few of us went over to mt. reba. EDH-FJ is blazing the trail.

enjoy the silence

making the final push to the summit

EDH-FJ and the carson-iceberg wilderness area

SFbadger was kind enough to present us with a syrah he and his wife produced. very nice wine! it all got finished, but don't ask about the spoon.

then it was time for slickrock on sunday!

here's daPitbull entering one of the first challenging obstacles near the granite pools

kinda tight

daPitbull exiting the obstacle

next, cruizin4bruzin. here he is doing his best captain morgan impersonation.

anyone find my front driver's side wheel?

a very nice rock to drive over

hey, who's the rock painter?

enjoy the silence, pt. 2

finally!...the water crossing!

potatomutato going up the final obstacle.

we made it!

the final obstacle: top to bottom (the oil was left by someone before us)

long day's done

lots of slickrock thanks to daPitbull for his excellent spotting and to cruizin4bruzin for inspiring me to continue on. heck, after seeing how crazy he was doing the entire trail completely stock with no sliders, i thought i would've been crazy to pass up the opportunity to complete this wonderfully arduous trail.

it was great running trails and camping with all of you. let's try to do it again soon!

oh, yeah, and post up your pix!

Man oh man, that was a fun weekend. Saturday, great time on some pretty tame yet challenging runs. But Sunday...by far some of the hairiest obstacles I've done. They need to revise those trail books cause Slickrock seemed harder then the book led it on to be. Anyway...traildamage...yes! Need to repaint the sliders (all pro sliders definately did the job) and hammer out those budbuilt skids (thanks MissFJ...I told you PotatoMutato, I'll sell you the buds eventhough they are "slightly used"). BTW, you did a great job organizing the event, thanks. Cruzin4bruzin needs to be put on a leash cause that dude took a completely stock (dunlaps, no sliders, nothing) through, of course with some slick spotting...Good meeting everyone and I'll get my pictures up after work.

This was really a fun event. Steve did an excellent job of organizing and keeping everyone safe and out of trouble. We were definitely at the limits of our ability on Slickrock - but these vehicles are incredible.

I am looking forward to future NorCal FJ events!!

I'll post up my trail pix in a bit...

thanks! i put them on later that evening at the campsite in tahoe.

there was some bear activity that night as well. in fact, one decided to check out the fj's interior even though i had cleared out all remnants of food and beverage. perhaps the bear thought it was a 2008 model, was wondering if it could sleep in it, or just wanted the cap.

check the prints
