Snow run anyone

A little while back there were some noises about attempting a snow run. Well now the snow is here and there is plenty of it even at low altitude, but it seems every one has dropped the... snow ball
So let's see if there is any interest here. Time/Place suggestions?
I heard that a cool place to go is Twain Heart, one of the Santa Cruz 4x4 club's yearly favorite in February... anyone has info on that?

Re: Snow run anyone

I'm in for a snow run. I'd suggest though that anyone who wants to go should come prepared, ie. chains, shovel, yank straps, etc...

Re: Snow run anyone

All right, I was hopping for some suggestions but I guess not. The problem is that I am not sure where we can go. Lots of trail have gate closures during this season so unless someone knows about a place that stays open...
I can suggest the crossing between Hwy 108 and 4 from Beardslley reservoir to Camp Connel North of Arnold. It is a dirt road all the way through but it has some high elevation in a couple of spot over 7,000 feet so I know there is snow out there. Emigrant trail off of 88? So the big question is access... or we can just meet in the valley and go for a stroll East and see what happens... How about Sunday the 24th of this month?

Sorry Boss I almost forgot...
Here is the link to the SC 4x4 club:
Santa Cruz 4 Wheel Drive Club Website
They meet every third Thursday of the month at Tony & Alba's in Scotts Valley. They are a cool bunch of people if you like the "club" atmosphere.

Re: Snow run anyone

Hey,

Thats my stomping ground!!grew up in Angels camp and more than likley have ridden every square inch of that area, but allot has changed in the last 7 years as far as closing it off. I might be able to make it up there but have to check, You could drop down to Camp 9 the climb out towards columbia and you will run into the back side of Twaine Harte. I was up there last month then ran over and did boards crossing in the snow.
